2015 has been a great year and it’s fast drawing to a close. With 2016 just round the corner, I’ve started making travel plans for 2016 and so far, it’s shaping up to be another exciting year, with lots of new experiences to enjoy and places to discover.
Italy
Italy has always been on my bucket list simply because it’s so rich in culture and history. This country has contributed so much to the world over the past three millennia and visiting it is sure to be an eye-opening experience. At the top of my list is Rome, the sprawling capital which houses a unique and extremely impressive collection of ancient ruins, historically significant buildings and extraordinary sights. The Vatican City, the world’s smallest country, is also something you have to see while in Rome, because it’s the cradle of Christianity and there’s nowhere else like it. The whole city of Rome just exudes historical and cultural importance – I can’t wait to go and see the sights!
France
I’ve always wanted to get to know France better and take time out to explore the country more. The Euro 2016 finals are taking place all across France next year, so I figured there’s no better time to visit. The finals are spread out over a month from the 10th of June to the 10th of July, with the grand final held at the Stade de France in Paris. There’s already a lot of excitement about this tournament. Visit this page to learn how you can bet on your favourite team. Chances are, I may only get tickets to a few matches, if any, but it’s still going to be amazing getting to see all of these places in France, from the romantic Paris to the gorgeous coastal cities like Nice and Marseilles.
New York
If that’s not enough, I hope to save up and visit New York at some point in 2016. Many people I know have been and they absolutely loved it there. To me, New York seems very iconic and unique, a towering metropolis full of famous sights, with cultural and historical landmarks all over the place. I hope to go up the Freedom Tower, which opened in June 2015 as the tallest building in the Western hemisphere – I’m sure the views from the observation deck will be unforgettable. Whilst in New York I also hope to see a Broadway play, visit Times Square and take a boat trip to see the Statue of Liberty. There’s so much to see and do in the Big Apple that I might never come back!
Dubai
The last place I’m planning on travelling to in 2016 is Dubai, the desert metropolis where skyscrapers keep rising and buildings keep on getting built. There’s so much to see here, from the artificial islands and the world’s largest shopping centre, to the majestic Atlantis Hotel and the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. Dubai is in many ways the tourist hotspot of the Middle East, a thriving and fast-growing city that mixes the rich culture and heritage of the Middle East with the modern advances seen in any big Western city.
So there you have it – my travel plans for 2016. If all goes well, I’ll be able to visit all of these exciting places and have lots of memorable experiences. I may even be able to squeeze in a few extra trips as well!
